The death of Laura Elizabeth (Stone) Morrison occurred, peacefully, May 26, 2015 at Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s, N.S.
She was born in Lynches River, Oct. 5, 1920, a daughter of John L. and Mary Jane (Gracie) Stone.
Laura married Ross Morrison of St. Peter’s in 1941, they lived in Sydney for many years, and during this time Laura worked at McCurdy’s & Co, a ladies wear store on Charlotte Street.
Laura enjoyed many summers with Ross, and their numerous friends and family members, at their bungalow in Irish Vale on the shores of the Bras D’Or Lakes. It was here that Laura planted her wonderful flower gardens and learned how to paint. Laura's painting, gardening and love of spending time with family and friends ensured she had a very happy life.
Laura is survived by her sister, Mildred (Benedict) Sampson, Lynches River; brother, Richard (Teresa) Stone of Grand Greve, and many nieces and nephews.
Laura was predeceased by her husband, Ross; sisters, Katherine (Bill) Fedora, Mary (Allan) MacLean and Rena (Bernie) Jessome; brothers, Johnnie Stone, Tommy (Jane) Stone, Danny (Teresa) Stone, Charlie (Jean) Stone, Clarence (Barbara) Stone, John (Sandra) Stone and Ernie (Laura) Stone.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the chapel of the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's United Church with Rev. Victor MacLeod officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Richmond Villa for their care and compassion.
