Catherine Colter Purvis
Walkerville - Catherine Colter Purvis, age 100 of Walkerville, Pictou County passed away June 9, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Fredericton, NB she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Mae (Yerxa) Yerxa.
She was a resident of Walkerville most of her life and was an adherent of the United Church.
She is survived by daughters Beatrice “Betty”, Walkerville; Shirley (Keith) Snell, Walkerville; sons Sterling, Glenelg; Wilbur (Karen), Bridgeville; Roy (June), Thorburn; Graham (Sylvia), Woodburn; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister Gertrude Williams, Moncton; half sister Myrtle Fraser; Truro; half brother Clyde “Bud” (Marion) Yerxa, Garden of Eden.
She was predeceased by her husband William E., son Jack, brother Arthur, sisters Mary Yerxa, Mabel Fraser, Judy Keagen, granddaughter Valerie and daughter-in-law Joan Purvis.
Visitation will be from 7-9 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday in the Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
