It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Clyde Dollimount on June 8, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Francois, Nfld., he was the son of late Raymond and Olive (Skinner) Dollimount.
Clyde was a photographer, organist, teacher and author. He taught in Cape Breton, Toronto, Newfoundland and London, England, He had worked as organist at First United Church and St. Bartholomew's Church, both in Louisbourg. Clyde was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 62, Louisbourg.
Before his illness progressed he was a volunteer working with the "Louisbourg Seagull." Many of his photographs have graced the cover of the "Seagull".
Clyde has been a lay reader in the Anglican Church of Canada and spent a lot time studying the Bible and history.
He authored two books and was currently working on a third, "Newfoundlanders in Louisbourg." He also wrote a column about Louisbourg once a month for the "Cape Breton Community Post."
He is survived by his brothers, Keith (Audrey), David, and Arthur Dollimount, also sister, Betty (Mark) Steylen; special friends, Jon and Cathy Lawrence and Robert Wagner.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond Jr. and Gilbert Dollimount, and a sister in infancy.
Cremation had taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request.
