Gerald Augustus 'Jerry' Kennedy, age 79, of North Foord St., Stellarton, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late James and Katherine (MacGillivary) Kennedy. He was a retired chef at the Aberdeen Hospital and a former member of the Chef’s Association.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rose (MacNeil); daughters, Gale (Wilfred) MacNutt, Truro, Angela Kennedy (Ed Shaw), Halifax; son, Charles (Jan MacKay), Sudbury, Ont.; two granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; sisters, Hilda Kennedy, Glace Bay, Jovita Koleska, Sudbury, Ont.; cousin, Donald Cameron, New Glasgow.
He was predeceased by six brothers and one sister.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A private graveside service will be held in Saint Ann’s Cemetery, Glace Bay, at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
