It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, loving grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Helen Poswiata, age 87, who passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
Mary was born in Whitney Pier and was the daughter of the late Walter and Caroline (Kachpryk) Siepierski.
Mary devoted her life to being a loving mother, caring wife and Baba. Mom was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to all. She was generous to a fault when it came to her children. During her lifetime she incurred some difficult hardships but she always managed to persevere. Mary loved her family, enjoyed spending quality time with them and glowed with pride when she was with her grandchildren.
Mom is survived by daughters, Christine (Gerry) Snow, Wanda (Kenny) Lotherington; sons, Henry (Debbie) Poswiata, Michael (Barbara) Poswiata and sister In-law, Lousie Siepierski; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry; her brothers, Chester and Kaz; sister-in-law, Mona; nephews, Michael and Stephen Siepierski.
In honouring our mother’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015 with Rev Sheldon Chant officiating.
Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or St. Mary’s Polish Parish Rebuilding Fund.
