Kathryn Joyce MacCuspic, age 86 of Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.
Born in Sydney in 1929, she was the youngest and last surviving child of William 'Bill' and Kate (Smith) Pride.
Joyce attended secretarial school in Sydney and while living there, worked in office admin positions at Thompson & Sutherland, and the Sydney Courthouse. After moving to the Port Hawkesbury area in 1971, she worked at the Port Hawkesbury Town Office, and finished her career at the CNR Telegraph Office. She had a strong faith and was an adherent of the Causeway Pentecostal Church, Port Hawkesbury.
She is survived by her four boys, Cameron (Leanne), Victoria, B.C.; Donald (Sharon), Port Hastings; Rob (Diane), Toronto; Rodney (Virginia), Grande Prairie, Alta.; her eight grandchildren, Camille, Kelsey, Carly, Mitchell, Charlotte, William, Kieran and Marina. She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm and infant son, Richmond; brothers, Gordon and George, and sisters, Rose, Winnifred, Vera, Ethel 'Tet' and Audrey.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for all the professional care they provided, along with all the Home Care workers who gave mom two more years of independent living in her own home.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service to be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Causeway Pentecostal Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Pastor Burt Hooper officiating. A reception to follow at St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury. Burial to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
