Phyllis Thornton

Thornton, Phyllis Melba of Halifax, passed away June 12, 2015 at the Halifax Infirmary QEII with her loving daughters by her side. Born in Baie Verte New Brunswick on November 21, 1930, Phyllis was the only child of the late Douglas and Melba (Baxter) Delesdernier. She was a graduate of Mount Allison Commercial College in Sackville NB. Over her career she worked for the Halifax County School Board, the Nova Scotia Provincial Government, and the Federal Government. She was a member of Bethany United Church, and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi. Mum loved spending with her family and camping at her trailer in Amherst, NS. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid curling fan. She was predeceased by her husband (the love of her life) John William Thornton and her very good friend the late Morton Osborne.
She is survived by her daughters Ann (Dwight) Mc Cracken, Cole Harbour; and Christine (Clark) Squires Halifax; grandchildren Andrew Mc Cracken Dartmouth, Gregory (Danielle) Mc Cracken , Cole Harbour, Michael Squires, Halifax and Jillian Mc Cracken, Cole Harbour. Visitation 2-4,6-8 pm Wednesday June 17,2015 in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home , 2666 Windsor St. Halifax, where Funeral Service will take place at 2 pm Thursday June,18,2015 . Rev. Vincent Ihasz officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Donations in Phyllis‘s name may be made to the QEII Foundation, Bethany United Church or a charity of choice.
