It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our loving father, Lloyd Lamb, on June 14, 2015 at Taigh Na Mara.
Born in Dunrea, Man., he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Mary Jane (Tompkins) Lamb, and is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Lloyd grew up on the family farm but always dreamt of flying. He realized this dream and served for six years in the RCAF as a pilot in the Battle of the Atlantic. Lloyd later worked for Canada Post and retired after 21 years of service, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and recently received his 55-year pin.
Lloyd was a true gentleman who loved to spend time with his beloved wife Anna at their bungalow on the Mira. True to his farming roots, Lloyd was and avid gardener and superb craftsman.
Surviving is loving wife of 70 years, Anna; sons, Allan (Marlayne), St. Thomas, Ont., David of Glace Bay; daughter, Joanne (Jay Bugden), Fall River, N.S. Also surviving are grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Kim, Amanda and Amy, along with great-grandchildren, Adrian, Alexandra, Abigail, Riley and special niece, Joanne Smalley.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Luella, Ray, John, Nellie, George and Laura.
As per Lloyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 18th from 12-2 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating. Interment to follow in Black Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lloyd’s memory may be made to the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church building fund.
