It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Janet Ellen Katz, 65, of New Waterford, on June 15, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Toronto, she was a daughter of Jim Knox and the late Linneth (Bailey) Knox.
Janet was a very social lady who enjoyed playing cards with her close friends. She also loved watching Soaps and listening to motown music. Her greatest joy was spending time with her granddaughter, Dahlia.
Surviving are her husband, David Katz, Calgary; son, Corey Katz (Melissa Crawford), New Waterford; brothers, Lawrence Knox, Phillip Knox, both of Toronto; granddaughter, Dahlia Crawford Katz; nieces and nephews, Justin Knox, Jenelle Knox, Jason Knox, Isaac Knox, Matthew Knox and Sarah Purchase, all of Toronto.
Janet was predeceased by her mother, Linneth and brother, Leslie.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a gathering of family and friends held today (Wednesday, June 17th) from 1-2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford.
