It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Joyce Hooper on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Port Morien, she was the daughter of the late William and Blanche Murrant. Joyce worked many years at Maritime Tel & Tel in Glace Bay.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Albert Hooper, children, Glenn (Betty Lou), Howie Center, Gail Leighton (Gordon), Sydney Forks, Gary (Donna), Reserve Mines, four grandchildren, Khalil Abou-Hamad (Andrea), California, Selina Parnell (Bryan) Romania, Tara Smith (Kenny), Reserve Mines and Jarrett Smith, Edmonton. She is also survived by brothers, Nelson Murrant (Sandra), Port Morien, Eddie Murrant (Blanche), Glace Bay, sister-in-law, Linda Murrant and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was predeceased by brother, Stanley Murrant and sister-in-law, Carol, Port Morien, brother, Jimmy Murrant, Port Morien, sister, Ella and brother-in-law, Cleveland Stoddard, Truro and grandson, Tyler Hooper, Howie Center.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 19th from 12–2 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay with service following at 2 p.m. in Patten Chapel.
