Passed away peacefully on June 15, 2015 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Greenvale, P.E.I., he was the son of the late Earle and Mary (Clark) MacRae.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Margaret (Nicholson), and children, Dr. Judith MacRae, Ottawa, and twin Patricia Crowell (Dr. Richard), Halifax, Jeffrey (Celina), Calgary, Holly MacRae (Stephen Dodge), Dartmouth, James (Phyllis), Edmonton; grandchildren, Martin MacRae, Jennifer and Kristen Dunbar, Christopher Ritcey and Jeffrey Crowell, Andrea and Leah MacRae, Jaclyn and Julia Dodge, Robbie MacRae; great-grandchildren, Haydn and Evan Ritcey, and Harmony MacRae. He is also survived by his brothers, Reginald (Gladys), Summerside, P.E.I., and Sterling (Jean) Greenvale, P.E.I. He was predeceased by his eldest son, John, and sister, Dorothy (Moase).
Visitation will be held at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 17. Funeral will be held at St. James United Church, 181 Portland Street, Dartmouth on Thursday, June 18, at 1 p.m. with reception to follow.
