JACKMAN
Paul
October 20, 1965 - June 14, 2015
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, son, brother, brother-in-heart, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, Paul Jackman. Paul passed away peacefully at home, in the loving arms of his family and friends, after a courageous three year battle with melanoma. Paul faced his cancer with courage, strength, resolve, dignity and grace, trying all the while to protectively shield all those who loved him. Every decision he made along the way, every clinical trial he entered, he did so to look after his beloved family for as long as he possibly could. Paul was fiercely loyal, thoughtful, caring, and protective. He will be forever cherished and remembered for his kind and generous heart, his wonderful sense of humour and wit, and his unyielding optimism. We all feel blessed to have been welcomed into his heart and beyond privileged to have had him in our lives. Paul embraced the world, and the world embraced him. He graced this earth much too briefly, but oh, how he shone so brightly. Paul was born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland, and his strength of character and unprecedented integrity was immediately coveted at his first job of running a gas station at the age of 15, and carried on throughout his life and career at Taro. He met his very green Natasha planting and running trees in a remote forest near Dryden, Ontario, one summer, where they not only planted trees together but deeply rooted a love that entwined all those who met them. Their particular Tree always offered many unyielding resources: fruit, an ear, shelter, protection, solace, strength, whimsy and wisdom. These branches were forever welcoming to those that Paul knew were pure of heart. This was of the utmost importance to Paul. If you were "in," oh, how you were forever "in" his heart.Paul will forever continue to branch out and grow his unyielding love, watching over his loving wife, Natasha, his beloved sons, Alexander and Christopher, his "son" William; his devoted siblings and their spouses, sister Susan (Brian) and brothers Doug (Lynn), Gerry (Charlene), and Bob (Nicole); his nieces and nephews, Paul, Doug, Ryan, Matthew, Kyle, Jason, Melanie, Sean, Brielle, and Bronwyn; his Aunt Noreen; his cousins, Dave and Sharon, Chuck and Cheryl-Lynn; his father-in-law, Rev. Nicolas Boldireff and wife Anisia, beloved Bro' Michael and cherished niece, Katia; and his many, many special friends, particularly Christina, Donna and Scott, Wee Dorothy and Denise, Liz, Gil, Yvonne, William, Ester, Ellie, Elizabeth, Indu, Dwayne, in the 'hood Shelley, Gail, Ila, and Candy, and his merry band of Poker Buddies. Now in the loving arms of his parents, Marie and Gerry, and dear friends Peter, Eric and Denny. Be at peace, sweet Paulie. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. David Hogg, Dr. Marcus Butler, the nursing staff on Unit 14C at Princess Margaret Hospital, and Vivienne from blood services. A special thank you to Liz and to Yasmin, our lighthouses in the storm, both from Bayshore Palliative Care Team, and the many friends, far too many to mention, who held us, fed us, and carried us through. Visitation for our Paulie will be held on Monday, June 22 from 2-4 pm and 7- pm at Dods and McNair Funeral home, 21 First Street, Orangeville, Ontario. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at Dods and McNair Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 2:30 pm. Reception to follow. Your love may be forwarded to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Melanoma Network of Canada. Paul would have liked that. ... And the tree planting continues. A tree will be planted in honour of Paul in the Dods and McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville, Ontario. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 2:30 pm.
