Passed away at the St. John's Long Term Health Care Facility after a long battle with dementia, on Sunday, June 14, 2015, Joan Martin, of St. John's. Predeceased by husband of 54 years, William Martin (March 3, 2015); her parents; parents-in-law, John and Beatrice Martin; brothers-in-law, John Martin and Allister Troke; sister-in-law, Shirley Smith; and 2 children, William and Elizabeth, who are forever loved and sadly missed. Leaving to mourn, daughters: Debbie Martin (Joe), Linda Popadince (Michael) and Bernadette Martin; sons: John Martin (Jean) and Raymond Martin; several grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, Anthony Martin; siblings: Theresa, Loretta and Gloria ; siblings-in-law: Elizabeth Butt (Stephen), Burnette Troke, Raymond Martin (Janet) and Emily Martin; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family from Canada and the United States. Thank you to the nurses and staff at the St. John's Long Term Health Care Facility, who cared for both Joan and Bill. At Joan's request, cremation has taken place. Family will be receiving visitors at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Thursday, June 18, and Friday, June 19, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, MacDonald Drive, on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:00pm, with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
