DeWARE, KATHLEEN "KAY" LILLIAN
Kathleen “Kay” DeWare, 92, of Moncton, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Ward) Masters.
Following her marriage to Walter in 1942, she opted to stay at home to care for her family. A husband and five children kept her busy sewing, knitting, preserving, and preparing wonderful meals. She loved to bake and kept the cookie can filled for her children and, later, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kay enjoyed following Walter during the harness racing days and many happy summers were spent during Old Home Week on the Island. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, needlework, socializing with friends and spending time with her family. Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
Kay will be sadly missed by her children, Betty Audain (late Owen) and Brian DeWare (Jeannine), both of Moncton, Karen Mason (Courtney) of Fredericton and Jim DeWare (Louise) of Moncton; grandchildren, Patti Doiron (Eric Hache), Stacey DeWare, Jody Steen (Kevin), Alissa Girvan (Matthew), Natalie and Tanya DeWare, Jillian DeWare Flewelling (Drew), Trevor Mason (Julie) and Jeffrey Mason, Jimmy DeWare (Jill) and Chrystal Hartley (Mitchell); great-grandchildren, Grace Draper, Abigail and Madeline Steen, Oakley Girvan, Christine and Nicholas Mason and Matilda DeWare; sister, Audrey Gagne (Marcel); sisters-in-law, Grace Mutch (late Edmund), Evelyn Wadman (John), Phyllis Melanson (late Ned), Lois Maxner (Berwick), Olive Cameron (Gerald), Marion Klein (Jayme), Garda DeWare and Leonise DeWare; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Laura), Randy (Sheila); many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. DeWare (2003); daughter, Carolyn; son, Wayne; sister, Pat; brothers, Harry and Bob; and many in-laws in both the Masters and DeWare families.
There will be no visitation by personal request. A Service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Ecclestone officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be held at Fair Haven Cemetery.
In Kay’s memory, donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
