It is with saddened hearts we announce the sudden passing of Michael ‘Mickey’ Paul McGillivary, 43, of River Ryan on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Mickey will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kathleen (Walters) McGillivary; parents, Michael & Eileen (MacPhee) McGillivary, River Ryan; brothers, Jamie (Wanda) McGillivary, Balls Creek, Matthew (Jenny) McGillivary, Sydney; nieces and nephews, Emily, Jamie, Khristopher, Colin and Victoria; mother and father-in-law, Corson and Edie Walters, Westmount; several aunts and uncles.
Michael was predeceased by grandparents, Lucia & Charles McGillivary and John & Eileen MacPhee, as well as neice, Elizabeth McGillivary.
Mickey enjoyed the outdoors, tending to his garden and spending time in nature with his dog, Ringo. On warm summer nights he would be found roasting marshmallows around a campfire with his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today (Tuesday, June 23) at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford from 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Wednesday, June 24th at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard’s Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association.
