It is with saddened hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our daughter, mother, sister and friend, Marie Hannigan, 55, of River Ryan on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of Mary (Feit) and the late Manning Murphy.
Marie worked in janitorial services both in New Brunswick and Sydney. She enjoyed playing darts, crib and shooting a game of pool. She also liked playing games on her computer and looked forward to her movie nights with friends every Wednesday.
Surviving are her former husband, Francis 'Cubbie' Hannigan, New Waterford; daughter, Mary Hannigan, New Waterford; brothers, Joey, River Ryan, Manning (Paula), Mayerthorpe, Alta., Mathias, Florence, N.S., Danny (Nicole), Quebec, Leo (Rita), River Ryan; sisters, Margaret Murphy, New Waterford, Kathleen Cormier, Quebec, Bernice Murphy, River Ryan; 16 nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Marie was predeceased by a brother, Roddie.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Friday, July 3rd at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan, at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit or the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
