It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Joanne Bickerton, 59, of New Waterford on June 29, 2015 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Campbell) Bennett.
Joanne was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford. She enjoyed working with crafts, especially crocheting and needle point. Joanne also loved playing darts and bingo as well as camping with family and friends. Her favourite TV show was Big Brother and she truly adored animals, namely her dog, Kodie.
Surviving are her devoted and loving life-partner, Dave Mason, New Waterford; sons, Bill (Rachelle) Bowering, Wayne (Karen) Bowering, Shawn Bowering (Tammy Webber), all of Grande Cache, Alta.; brothers, Russell (Gloria) Bennett, New Waterford, Marcus Simon, Thomas (Lorraine) Simon, both of Eskasoni; sisters, Susie Bennett, Helen Campbell, Barbara (Jimmy) Keeping, all of New Waterford; grandchildren, Heather and Raymond Harriss, Bill and Teala Bowering, Shawn and Cody Bowering; aunt, Dorothy Parr, New Waterford; many nieces and nephews; one goddaughter, Tamisha DeWolfe.
Besides her parents, Joanne was predeceased by her husband Wayne 'Happy Jack' Bickerton, grandparents, Susie and Brick Campbell and Marcus and Charlotte Bennett as well as many aunts and uncles.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. in Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown.
