Charlie 'Bud' Thomas Junior Cook, 73, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney on March 16, 1942, Charlie was the oldest son of the late Charles and Madeline (Brown) Cook, Lewis Cove Road, Richmond County, N.S. Charlie started his career as a heavy equipment operator with Ian MacLeod Construction, Grand River, Richmond County moving to Sydney to take a position with Sydney Steel for 27 years until it's closure. For the past 15 years, Charlie's love for heavy equipment operation saw him employed with Peter's Construction, operating out of Kelly Rock. Charlie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Willena Agnes (MacSween) Cook; daughters, Charlene (Michael) Jamieson, Chance Harbour, N.S., Kimberley Ann (Daniel Webb) Cook, Sydney and Barbara (David) MacCuish, Bonanza, Alta. He is also survived by grandchildren, Anthony Jamieson, Stephanie Jamieson, Matthew Cook, Jeremy Webb, Brandon Webb, Ethan Webb, Crystal Webb, Keith MacCuish and Dion MacCuish and great-granddaughter, Taylor Delaney. He is also survived by sisters, Madeline Libbus, River Bourgeois, Florence Cook, Sydney, Viola Buckland, Ontario, Zelma (Gerard Martell) Mariner, Lewis Cove, Velma (Steve) Martell, L'Ardoise and brothers, Kenny (Cheryl) Cook, Lewis Cove, Melvin Cook, St. Peter's, Albert (Ann) Cook, Pt. Michaud, Calvin (Glenda Noftall) Cook, Glace Bay, Earl (Carole) Cook, Lewis Cove and many nieces and nephews. Also left behind is Charlie's faithful pet Raja.
Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his nephew, Jamie Cook; niece, Coleen Cook and brother-in-law, Charles 'Sandy' Libbus.
Visitation will take place at Chant's Funeral Home, Alexandra Street, Sydney on Friday, July 10th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in Chant's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Lyle officiating on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. with the burial following at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
