It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Charlie Hurley, on Monday, July 6, 2015, at his home, with family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Bartholomew 'Bert' Hurley and Elizabeth 'Betty' (Fisher).
Charlie was a mastermind in mechanics and carpentry and his true passion was spending time in his garage and with his son Haydon. He loved working around cars and enjoyed woodworking.
He worked for Kennedy’s Paving, Woodland Construction, and Murphy’s Aluminum; he worked hard and took great pride in everything he did and owns. Charlie enjoyed the great outdoors, especially going four wheeling with his son, Haydon, he had a love for animals especially his cats, Jode and Nubb.
Surviving are his partner and best friend, Tanya Nicole Hill; son, Haydon Michael Charles Hurley; sisters, Elizabeth Bearnes, Calgary, Wendy Sampson, Glace Bay; brothers, John (Patty), Glace Bay, Keith, Morris (Connie), both of Alberta, also surviving are nieces, nephews and friends
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating, with a reception to follow.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Memorial donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
