Passed peacefully away at the Lion's Manor Nursing Home, Placentia on Thursday, July 16, 2015, Samuel B. Penney of Carbonear, age 96 years. Predeceased by wife: Lucy; daughters: Joan and May; two infant sons; one infant daughter and parents: Silas and Florence; brothers: Clarence, Silas and John (Edna). Left to mourn, six daughters: Lillian (Frank, deceased) Stice, California, USA, Florence (Kevin) Janes, St. John’s, Frances (Robert) Pike, Bradford, ON, Goldie (Bruce) Baker, Carbonear, Lois (Eldred) Dean, Victoria and Judy (Denis) Mulloy, St. John’s; four sons: Silas (Linda), Carbonear, Calvin (Audrey), St. John’s, Paul (Karen), Mount Pearl and Wade, Ontario; son-in-law: Adolph Gosse, Queen’s Cove; twenty-six grandchildren: Valerie, Sid, Dave, Frank, Howard, Anthony 'BJ', Heather, Gale, Kerri, Trevor, Curtis, Cory, Brett, Adam, Lori, Terry, Penny, Erin, Matthew, Lisa, Blaine, Meghan, Victoria, Luke, Georgianne and Samantha, a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Mary (Graham, deceased) Baldwin, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Pastor Darren Norman conducted the funeral service on Monday, July 20 from Calvary Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Carbonear.
