It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James 'Jim' Bryson Robinson, on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at his home in Glace Bay, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, Jim came from a proud family of miners and continued that tradition, working in the mines for over 40 years.
During the Second World War, he served as part of the Canadian Air Force, serving overseas in India, Egypt and England.
Jim’s greatest joy came from spending time with his close knit family. He was happiest when the house was full.
He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Sadie Robinson (MacLeod); his daughters; Evelyn(Glen) Smith, Joan (James) McNeil, Jean (Lewellyn) Robinson, Mora (Michael) Devereaux, Barbara (Kevin) Ruelland, Brenda (Jack) McMullin, Lisa Robinson and sons, Alfie (Joan) Robinson and Kenneth (Cecilia) Robinson; 17 grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Helen Stewart and many close nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Jean and Charles Robinson, his brother Alfred Robinson, his sister Kay Olford, his sister-in-law Martha Robinson and his brothers-in-law Norman Olford and Hugh Stewart.
Funeral for the late Jim Robinson will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay with Rev. Donald MacDonald officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Care, Canadian Cancer Society or Newsom Church.
