Mary Velma Chisholm died peacefully on July 29, 2015, after a long courageous battle with cancer in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
Velma was born in Souris, Prince Edward Island. She was a daughter of the late John D & Helen Paquet.
Velma was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Wayne and Maynard Paquet.
Velma is survived by husband, Jack; sons, Frank and John; grandchildren, Andrew and Kate; brothers, Stanley (Betty) Sidney (Sandy) and sister, Linda (Joe) and sister in-law, Bernadette, along with many nieces and nephews. Forever in our Hearts.
Velma was a kind, caring, dedicated, gentle nurse. She was also an avid gardener, baker and knitter which she shared generously.
Velma worked in Massachusetts and Michigan and retired from the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
After retirement Velma happily gave her time and energy volunteering for the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Velma will rest in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Monday, August 3, from 10-10:45 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m., Fr. Angus Morris officiating, burial to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or the Inverness Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
