It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we, the family of Eugene Daniel Paul, announce his death at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015.
Born Feb.10, 1939, Eugene was the son of the late John N. and Margaret (Prosper) Paul. Eugene was a member of the Holy Family Parish. He worked various jobs throughout his life such as, cutting pulpwood, worked for the fishery and worked for the Eskasoni School Board as a bus driver for 10 years. Eugene was an avid sports fan who often coached local teams in our community, which included fastball and hockey; his door was always open for a good cup of tea.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Wanda), Eugene 'EJ' (Jennifer), Francis (Tania) Moulton, and his daughter, Claudia (Colin); nine grandchildren, Jeannine, Jeffrey, John, Eric, Brett, Hunter, Corey, Blake and Riley; seven great-grandchildren, also surviving are brothers, Leonard (Josephine), John 'Jack' (Charlene), all of Eskasoni. Godchildren, Debby Lutes-Cormier, Stanley Paul, Winston Patles, Joe Marshall, Madeline Denny, John Joe Augustine and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Marian; paternal grandparents, Michael & Jane Paul; maternal grandparents, Peter & Clara Young Prosper; sister, Mary Alexis; three brothers, Lindsay Clement, Herman and Lawrence.
Visitation for the late Eugene Paul will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 after 6 p.m. at the Gabriel Centre, Church Street Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Church with Fr. Angus MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
A special thank you to Dr. Virick & staff, also to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for taking care of Dad.
Eugene will often be remembered for his great sense of humor and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
