It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Jean MacDonald, age 90, a resident of Central Court, on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Jean was born in North Sydney, March 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rachel (Beck) Clarck. Jean was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, she was a longtime volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Legion Memorial Chapel.
Jean is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cathy MacDonald, Bedford; her two grandsons, Andrew MacDonald, San Francisco and Peter MacDonald, Ottawa; her brother, Edward Clarck, St. Catharines, Ont. and also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, William 'Bill' MacDonald; her son, Ron MacDonald and by her brother, Charles Clarck.
Visitation for Jean will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22nd in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 3:p.m. Saturday, in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nancy Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ron MacDonald Memorial Scholarship at St. Mary’s University.
