Freda Muriel Goldie (nee Raymond) passed away in Langley, British Columbia in the morning of September 4, 2015.
Freda is survived by her son Donald (Colleen) Goldie and granddaughters Christina Goldie (Kyle Hawkins) and Caelin Folsom (Kyle Folsom) all of Langley BC; sisters Marg Milley and Kay Martin of St. John’s, Newfoundland; sister-in-law Nora Thompson of Maple Ridge BC; and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews in both BC and Newfoundland.
Freda was predeceased by husband William “Bill” Thompson Goldie (of Renfrewshire, Scotland) in 2002; infant grandson Christopher Goldie; brothers William, Robert, and Walter; and parents Leonard John and Tryphena (nee Etsell) Raymond.
Freda was born in Catalina, Newfoundland on December 30, 1926, the fourth of six children and the oldest daughter. She left Newfoundland in her late teens and lived in Montreal for a few years. She moved to Manitoba to join brother William, where she met her husband Bill Goldie. Bill served with the RCAF and they were posted to Trenton ON. After Bill retired, Freda and Bill moved to Mission BC where they resided until Bill’s death. Freda then moved to White Rock BC and finally to Langley BC to be closer to family. She resided for 10 years at the Renaissance Retirement Home in Langley, where she was well looked after by the wonderful staff.
There will be a small gathering at the home of Don & Colleen Goldie on Tuesday September 15 in the afternoon with internment of ashes at a later date in Langley BC. Rest in Peace Nan.
