BERRY, Peter Dexter – age 58 of Yarmouth, passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on September 13, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Yarmouth, he was raised by the late Ace “Manny” Crawford and Millie Crawford of Yarmouth and the son of Alberta Harris MacDonald. Peter was a loving husband, brother, father, and friend to many. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and children. He was a carpenter by trade who built several homes and also had a passion for music, motorcycles, and antique cars especially his Chevelle with which he spent many hours. Peter enjoyed life to the fullest and was a fighter with every episode of cancer and did not give up even at the last moment. He is survived by his loving daughters, Mary (Mark) Sleigh, Yarmouth; Hailey Berry, Yarmouth; son, Alan Berry, Yarmouth; companion, Kelly Cottreau; brothers, Allan MacDonald, Jack Jr., Jay MacDonald, Kelly MacDonald; and sister, Sandra MacDonald; grandchildren, Rowyn Sleigh and Leander Selton; aunts, Myra Ritchie, Rose MacIsaac, Val Berry, Stephanie Diccico; uncles, Don Berry, Jack Berry, Loren Berry. Besides his parents Peter was predeceased by his grandmother, Harvella Berry. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Thursday, September 17th from 7-9 p.m. at Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service was held Friday, September 18th from Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel, at 2 p.m., Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
