Wesley Basker

BASKER, WESLEY CHRISTOPHER
We are a family in deep mourning as a light has truly gone out in our lives. Wesley passed away at home on September 16, 2015. He was born on April 21, 1960 in Inverness, Cape Breton where he spent his early years before joining the military at the age of 21. He retired after 33 years of service.
Wesley leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Lynn (Gaudet) Basker; his daughters, April (Dale) and Meghan (Kabi), and the true lights of his life, his grandsons, Braden, Liam, Hunter, Jake and Finn all of whom he had special names for. He is also survived by his mother, Helen; sisters, Lorrie (Harold), Arlene (James); brothers, Roger (Jane) and Colin (Darlene); his other special and loved family, his in-laws, Mary and Rene Gaudet, Bruno (Lise) and William as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Wes was a special person, a lover of life, a singer of songs, a collector of things to give to others, a beer drinker, a happy face pancake maker, a simple man who gave smiles to others. A true Cape Breton soul living in exile.
Wesley was predeceased by his father, Christopher Basker and nephew, Harold Christopher Basker in infancy.
Friends and family are welcome to visit at Oromocto Funeral Home (108 Winnebago Street) on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 from 1 to 4 pm. A memorial mass and interment will take place in Cheticamp, Cape Breton at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at a later date.
For those who wish, donations in memory of Wesley may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Cardiac Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation.
Online condolences may be offered through www.oromoctofh.com
