It is with deep sadness the family regrets to announce Jim’s passing at the Halifax Infirmary on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, surrounded by loving family members.
Jim was born on Oct. 23, 1932 to the late Ben and Greta Halloran of Welton Street, Sydney, N.S.
He was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son and uncle.
Jim’s working career spanned many decades serving the public as a milk truck driven with Modern City Dairy, and oil delivery driver with Mercer Fuels Ltd. and his brother’s oil delivery business Charlie Halloran Fuels. His final job before retirement was as a cab driver with Briands Cabs Ltd. Jim was a loyal and dedicated fan of the C.B. Screaming Eagles, Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed socializing with his fellow seniors at 491 Cottage Rd. for the past 25 years.
Jim is survived by his former wife Arna Leach, Halifax, N.S.; daughter Helen Bowser, Halifax, N.S.; son Jim (Nadja) Halloran, Edmonton, Alta. Jim loved his adorable grand and great-grandchildren unconditionally, they are Janine Carroll, Ashley Halloran, Jennifer Bowser, Adamlee and Alexis Halloran and great-grandchildren Tyrel and Teaonna Carroll, Lily Halloran and Liam Bowser. Jim is also survived by his siblings, Earl and Ilda Halloran, Dawson Creek, B.C., Rose Buchanan, Sydney, N.S., Bob Halloran, Sydney, N.S., Donna and Phil Kirby , Pictou, N.S.; sister-in-law Jeanette Halloran; brother-in-law Robert Joseph.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved son John Arnold in 2013 whom he continued to grieve until his own death, brothers Charlie (Edna) Halloran and Roy, sister Carol Joseph, brother in-law Donnie Buchanan.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney, Sydney N.S. at 1:00 PM Saturday Oct 3,2015 officiated by Fr. Dennis Lamey
Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Please donate to a charity of your choice to honor Jim’s memory or in Lieu of flowers.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors 4D and the Cardiac Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, also the Staff of the Halifax Infirmary for all their care and compassion.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
