Beloved wife, mother and friend, Deborah Marie Zimmel (nee: McNeil), passed away suddenly Sept. 26, 2015, at the young age of 57.
Deborah’s loving heart will be remembered by her husband, David; her lovely daughters, Genna and Lyndsay; her extended family, especially her brother-in-law, Terry Zimmel and many dear friends.
She was born in New Waterford, N.S. on July 31, 1958, the second oldest of nine children to Malcolm and Marie McNeil. On graduation she moved to Winnipeg, Man. then Edmonton, Alta. working in advertising. There she met her husband David and on Feb. 23, 1985 they were married. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year. On April 20, 1988 they were blessed with the birth of their first daughter, Genna Barbara and almost three years later, on April 11, 1991 their second daughter, Lyndsay Marie was born. To Deborah her daughters became her life. She loved them so much. She loved being a mom. David and Deborah raised their daughters in Edmonton and in 2006 moved to Springbank, Calgary.
Deborah cherished her husband, daughters and the many communities she was so much a part of. She touched so many lives in profound ways. Her smile, thoughtfulness and unique ability to care so intimately for others touched her family and friends every day. She truly was a “very special gift from God” that will be deeply missed.
A personal thank you from the family to her true friends: Cindy, Shannon, Kathy, Terri, Carol, Melody, Karina, and many others who supported Deborah endlessly throughout her illness the past two years.
A Celebration of Deborah’s Life was held at Eden Brook Funeral Home (17th Avenue & Lower Springbank Road S.W.) on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015.
