Joan Arlene Linkletter
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Arlene Linkletter, age 78, of River Hebert East. Joan passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre with her family by her side.
Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late John and Eveline (Smith) McIsaac.
A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she devoted her life to loving and caring for her family. During her early years she worked at Playtex in Amherst. She was a great baker, and cherished many of her favorite recipes, none of which were ever written down. Joan was a Past President and 50 year member of the River Hebert Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the River Hebert Legion, Branch #14 for 47 years, Past Matron of the Golden Star Chapter, # 72 OES. She enjoyed working with the Ladies Auxiliary, playing darts, cards, and Bingo. In her latter years her favorite pastime was watching TV.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Debora (Larry) Jollymore, Elmsdale, Alan (Carol), River Hebert East, David (Kathy), Amherst, Lisa (Peter) White, River Hebert East; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brothers Fred McIsaac, Amherst, Earl McIsaac, Red Deer AB; sisters Anna (Brian) Blakney, Amherst Shore, Judy (Joseph) Porter and Ruby Robertson, both of River Hebert East, brother-in-law Merle (Shirley) Linkletter, River Hebert East and sister-in-law Linda (Steven) Quinn, River Hebert East; several nieces and nephews. Also sadly missed by her dog Lucky.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Lester Linkletter in 2008, sister Iva Mackin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Furlong~Jones Funeral Home Amherst on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 2 pm, Pastor Clarence Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert, followed by a reception at the River Hebert Legion, Branch #14.
