Wayne Ferguson

Wayne Ferguson

Ferguson, Wayne Clinton
The family of Wayne Ferguson announces his passing at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre on October 27, 2015.
Born May 27, 1949 in Fredericton. Wayne was the son of the late Charlotte (Whyte) and Clinton (Fergie) Ferguson.
Wayne grew up in Fredericton’s Sunshine Gardens and graduated from FHS in 1967 with all his great High School buddies from “The Gardens”. After graduation Wayne became a very competent welder while working for Diamond Construction, Ashley Colter Limited and L & A Machinery before he ventured off on his own to Alberta in 1978.
Wayne settled in Fort McMurray, Alberta in 1979 when he joined Syncrude Canada. Wayne was a welder who advanced to one of the most respected managerial positions at Syncrude Canada looking after many multi-million dollar projects and shutdowns in the oil industry. Wayne did his work well, within budget, and on time and always did the jobs to perfection as Wayne wouldn’t have had it any other way. The employees and bosses of Syncrude Canada were his Western family. Honesty and integrity were the characteristics which Wayne looked for and exemplified in all his dealings. Wayne worked for Syncrude Canada until his retirement in 2014.
Wayne loved to travel and spend time with friends and family. His # 1 travel mate and friend was his son Dan or as he would say “Dan the Man”, with whom he enjoyed many “RUSH” concerts and football games. Wayne was planning to spend his winters at his retirement home in Florida and his summers in his family home in Fredericton but that was all cut short as he bravely fought a battle with cancer.
Wayne is survived by his son Daniel (Dan) Ferguson and Dan’s partner Terri Maynard. Wayne is also survived by his sisters Elaine Colter (Bob Jette) and Georgina Bourque; nieces & nephews, Melanie Remillard (Vergil), Erika Bourque, Ashley Colter (Peggy), Robert Colter, Andrew Colter (Amberly) Chris Colter, brother-in-law Peter Bourque, Tim Maynard (Annette), Kelly Maynard (Amy) and many cousins.
Wayne considered his sisters grandchildren part his…Justin, Braden, Dillan & Ryder Remillard; Stella Bourque-Mathews; Ashton, Reece, Lauren, Grace ,Allister ,Avery and Tyler Colter. He always loved to hear “Hello Uncle Waynie” and always kept up to date on all their lives.
Predeceased by parents Clinton and Charlotte Ferguson and
brother-in-law, David Colter.
Family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses in the Edmonton hospitals for the wonderful care he has received over the last year. The Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre Hospice gave outstanding care to Wayne and we are thankful for his amazing end of life care.
