Norman Julius Loeppky June 20, 1929 – Nov 1, 2015
He entered this world as Norman Julius Loeppky ....but to us he was Norm. Born in Herbert June 20, 1929, he was one of 10 children raised on the Loeppky family farm just south of Secretan. He lived and farmed in the area, where he met and married Myrle Kirby. They later moved to Moose Jaw where Norm worked at the school board and retired after many years. Norm was predeceased by Myrle and their son Larry. In 1983 Norm reacquainted and married Doris Holland. Norm was a farmer, a mechanic and a handy man. His favorite things were his ‘47 Kaiser car, his Chev truck, and his accordion. He was a committed volunteer for Salvation Army and Canadian Red Cross, an active UCT member and a lifetime member of the Sukanen Museum. A kind and generous man, Norm was always ready, willing and able to help. Norm enjoyed fishing, camping, snowmobiling and spoke fondly of his many trips. If he wasn’t at the museum or in the garage then you would find him having coffee with family and friends. We don’t know exactly when Norm developed that smile, or the twinkle in his eye but it became his trademark. Norm passed away peacefully Sunday November 1, 2015. It seemed “just right” that Don Messer was playing in the background and the prairie sun was setting. He is survived by his sister Esther, brother Gordon, wife of 31 years, Doris, step-children Rod, Shirley, Robbie, Ken, Sharon, many special nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their families. Predeceased by his parents Jacob and Helena Loeppky, sister’s Laura, Erna, Jean and Margaret, brother’s Ed, Art, Alfred and spouses, and stepson Melvin. In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimers Society or Canadian Red Cross graciously accepted. Special thanks to Ross Payant Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care. Our smiling Norm will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 2:30 pm in The Redpath Lounge at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W, Moose Jaw, SK, with Reverend Bob Langdon officiating.
