WILSON, Walter Weston “Buzz” - 90, Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 3, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born Nov. 25, 1925 he was a son of the late Fred and Amanda (Ryder) Wilson, of Barrington Passage. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Smith). They enjoyed over 66 years of marriage, friendship, and true partnership and are a wonderful inspiration to our family. After his father’s untimely death when Dad was only 19 years old, he began running the family General Store in 1944. He then built it into Wilson’s Shopping Centre, a successful retail organization that is a prominent employer and fixture in the area to this day. He was well known for contributing to the community in many ways over the years. He enjoyed greatly his many relationships with both customers and employees and, next to his wife and family, building and running his family business was the great passion of his life. He was one of the first in Atlantic Canada to join Home Hardware, a dealer owned co-op, and was an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of the organization throughout his life. He was an avid sportsman and greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He played hockey and baseball, enjoyed hunting and loved fly fishing. One of his proudest experiences was watching his sons, sons-in-law and grandsons learn to fly fish and he looked forward with great anticipation to the annual family fishing weekend. He loved to travel and he and Ruth had the opportunity to see much of the world, especially as part of the many Home Hardware Study tours. He was an active member of Temple Baptist church in Barrington Passage throughout his life. In addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by his older sister Dorothy (Brannen) of Brockville, Ontario, sister-in-law Dorothy Smith and children Peggy (Cecil) Swimm, Barbara (Steve) Nickerson, David (Lois) Wilson, and Brian (Joanne) Wilson. He was an extremely proud and much loved grandfather, always taking a keen interest in the progress, activities, and events of his grandchildren. They are Christopher Swimm, Nathan (Sue) Nickerson, Paul (Lori) Nickerson, Philip (Melissa) Nickerson, Jennifer (Katy) Wilson, Christine (Brent) Gobien, Michael (Keri) Wilson, Katelyn Wilson, Anthony Hartley, Sasha (Sherman) Crowell, Talent Wilson and Sydney Crowell. He greatly enjoyed his great grandchildren, Linnea, Peyton, Dylan, Eve, Jordan, Nolan and Elyse. He had a great impact on us all and his love will live on in our family. There will be a visitation held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Monday December 7, at the H. M Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, at the Barrington Municipal High School with Rev. Derrick Melanson officiating. Interment to follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Barrington Passage. It has been requested there be family flowers only; memorial donations may be made to the Temple United Baptist Church, VON or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to: huskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net
