Joseph "Joe" Arthur Pineau
Joseph “Joe” A. Pineau, 91, of Moncton and formerly of Prince Edward Island, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.
Born in North Rustico, PEI, he was the son of the late Peter and Rose (Blacquiere) Pineau.
Joe was a veteran of the Second World War having served overseas and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Joe was retired from Canadian Pacific Airlines, formerly known as Eastern Provincial Airlines and Maritime Central Airways as a Commissary Agent. In his younger years, Joe was active in baseball, bowling and various other sports.
Joe will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 69 years, Mabel (Cumming) Pineau of Moncton; daughters, Gail Smith (Douglas) of Dieppe and Lynda Monaghan (Fred) of Moncton; grandchildren, Kevin and Colin Monaghan of Moncton and Kelly Smith (Tim Holten) of Moncton; great-granddaughter, Hayley Smith; sister, Margaret McGuigan (late Leslie) of Charlottetown, PEI; brother, Merrill Pineau (Gennie) of Charlottetown, PEI; brothers-in-law, Clee Gillis and Cedric Drew; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his son, Peter “Pete” “Pistol” Pineau (Nov. 2011); sisters, Imelda, Gertrude, Adele, Ann and Alice; brothers, Ralph and Harold.
Private Family Service to be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) with Rev. Charles Broderick presiding. Interment to be held at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown, PEI.
