Catherine Patterson (nee Lewry)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Ann Patterson on December 30, 2015 after a short but difficult battle with cancer at their new Stratford, Ontario home. She was surrounded by her husband of 50 years, Robert (Bob) Patterson, sons Ken, Doug (Darija), Steve (Robin), and her loving grandchildren, Hutton and Wesley. Catherine was born in Moose Jaw to Jean Rosalthe Lewry (nee Munro) and Louis H. (Scoop) Lewry on July 30, 1945. She attended Central Collegiate in Regina and subsequently took her secretarial training in Regina. Cathy and Bob met while she was working at SaskTel in Moose Jaw and they married in December of 1965. In 1966 they moved to Calgary, where she first worked at the Alberta Telephone Company then at the Great Plains Oil Company. She loved to ski and travel in the mountains and soon she and Bob began to build their family, with Kenneth born in 1969 and Douglas in 1970. In 1971 they moved to Brampton, Ontario where Stephen was born in 1972. After moving back to Moose Jaw in 1974 to raise their family, Cathy became active in the community through the Moose Jaw Kinettes, and as the long term secretary for the Kinsmen Band and Choral Festival. Cathy ran a property management company and later became involved with the Moose Jaw Arts In Motion and Hunger In Moose Jaw, ultimately becoming its Chairperson. Catherine is predeceased by her mother, father, and brother Harold. She is survived by her immediate family and as well as brother Philip (Doreen) Lewry; sisters Janet (Larry) Smiley and Mary (Roger) Rothwell. She also enjoyed a special relationship with her aunt Annie Munro and cousins Jim, Beth (Whitey Dropko) and Ann (Ray Lees). A service to celebrate our beautiful Wife and Mum will be held at Zion United Church on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Doug Hallman will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hunger In Moose Jaw, the Shrine Children's Hospital Patient Travel Fund or the Moose Jaw Humane Society.
