Joshua Blakney

BLAKNEY, JOSHUA
Joshua "Josh" Mark Blakney, passed away on January 2nd, 2016 of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH, a rare complication of the Epstein-Barr virus that also causes lymphomas cancer at the Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, BC at 29 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Lee Blakney; grandfather, Mark Othniel Blakney; step-father, Alan Joseph Callaghan; first wife, Laura Elizabeth Scott-Blakney, and his current and forever partner "in crime", Léonie Wilhelmine Kimberly Lynne Armstrong; his biological father, Robert Austin Conrad as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Predeceased by his grandmother, Doris Madeline Blakney in 2005 and step-father, Pete King 2011.
Josh was a writer by trade and inclination, a creative soul who loved music, words, and everything to do with nature, especially birds. His compassion and insight drew him to study communication, relationships, and the nature of love, and he planned to turn his writing talents towards creating a blog. He always had time for someone in need, and gave everything he had to the people he loved.
Josh was an avid fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He liked dinosaurs, had a selective sense of smell, really enjoyed hot water, and carried his triple-triple without a coffee sleeve. His favorite color was blue.
Josh was a very private person, and if he let you in, you knew you were seeing someone truly beautiful, someone who would surely change the lives he touched. He will be remembered, and very sorely missed.
Josh along with his mother and biological father graduated from Faith School International.
The Celebration of Josh's life will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 10th, 2016 at the Living Waters Church of God, (24 Miracle Drive, Lakeville NB E1H 1J1) with Rev. Jeffery Bell and Pastor Jeff Goodwin officiating. Family will receive comfort prior to the service from 2 to 4 pm.
After his experiences, Josh was passionate about cancer education and research. He was involved with the University of New Brunswick cancer research project, Perceptions of Cancer and Health Seeking Behaviour: Strategies for Cancer Prevention and Control in New Brunswick, and spoke on their behalf. Donations in Josh's memory can be made to or to the BC Cancer Agency through their fundraising partner, the BC Cancer Foundation (bccancerfoundation.com), The University of New Brunswick cancer research project or the donor's choice.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. & Crematorium. (506-339-6612). Memories of Josh may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca.
