It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Kenneth 'Ken’ Edward Walker, age 54, at Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay, on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Fraser 'Herkie' and Colleen (MacLean) Walker.
He was a painter by trade, but due to his illness he finished working at a young age.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, painting and drawing. He had a quick wit and enjoyed a good joke. Kenny had a great sense of humour.
Kenny is survived by his son, Ryan Wall; his grandchildren, Aiden and Shaylynn; his sister, Susan (Al) MacLean, Sydney; brothers, David (Joanne) Walker and Fraser Walker both of Whitecourt, Alta.; nieces and nephews, Leah, Brad, James (Amanda), Nicole (Matt), Tyler and Carl (Sandra), as well as many friends.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
The family would like to thank Dr. James MacLean, the nurses and the staff at Taigh Na Mara for all their care and compassion given to Kenny during his time there.
Interment to take place at a late date.
