HAWKINS, DANIEL
Mr. Daniel "Danny" Shawn Hawkins of North Head, Grand Manan Island passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2016 at the Grand Manan Hospital. He was born in Black's Harbour, NB on November 3rd, 1957. He is survived by his mother Kathleen Gaskill (Flagg) Hawkins, formally of Beaver Harbour, NB (Passmaquoddy). Two brothers; Colin, Kevin (Judy) Hawkins. His three sisters; Ruby (Bill) Scott, Coralie (George) Losier, Sally (Tony) Nabuurs; Sister-In-Law Darlene Hawkins; Uncle Jimmy (Florence) Hawkins; nieces , nephews, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Floyd Franklin Hawkins and brothers Derwyn and Rodney. Danny loved the sea and was a Fisherman and Dulser who enjoyed life, whether he was at Castalia Convenience, the spreading grounds, or on the wharf a warm smile could be found when Danny was near, carefree and easygoing was his special trademark. He was passionate about his Red Sox's, Canadians and the Patriots. Special thank you to Palliative Care, Saint John Regional Hospital; Dr Webb, Foster, Nurses and Staff of the Grand Manan Hospital who provided Danny with such compassionate care and Danny's special Grand Manan family Bowlen Gaskill, Wayne Tucker, Jerry "Clarence" Flagg and Carolyn Flagg.
Danny’s funeral service will take place at the Church of the Ascension on Saturday January 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating. The interment will take place later in the spring at Christ Church Cemetery, Pennfield. Donations in Danny’s memory may be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
