It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Daniel William Neil, age 81, on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at the Northside General Hospital.
Dan was born Feb. 1, 1934 in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Theodore and Annabelle (Standing) Neil.
He was employed in his earlier years in the construction trade, later at the Toyota Plant in Point Edward and then with National Sea Products, North Sydney until his retirement. Dan was a family man, he enjoyed working in his yard but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, his children and grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his wife Theresa (Brogan) Neil; his daughters, Aileen (Michael) Naddaf, Groves Point and Shawna (Willard) Mombourquette, Sydney Mines; his son Dan (Michelle) Neil, North Sydney; his six grandchildren, Andrew James Naddaf (Paula MacLean), Daniel Michael Neil, Aaron Neil, Christopher Mombourquette, Taryn Mombourquette and Thomas Mombourquette; his sister Geraldine Donovan, Northside Community Guest Home and by a niece Lynn Pippy, Sydney.
Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
