MITCHELL, Violet Sylvia “Vi” – 101, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, January 8, 2016, at Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born in Island East River, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Frances (Luddington) Miller. Vi was a member of St. David’s United Church, United Church Women and was also a member of Diamond Rebekah Lodge. Vi is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Dean, Bible Hill; son, Ronald (Margaret) Mitchell, Truro; grandchildren, Tim (Karen) Dean, Randy Dean (Roberta), Steven (Lynn) Mitchell, Michael Dean (Cathy), Vernon (Michele) Mitchell, Vincent Mitchell (Andrea), Pamela (Shane) Sullivan; sister-in-law, Grace Miller, Shubenacadie; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Mitchell; sisters, Mary (Morris) Barss, Essie (Lionel) Taylor; brother, Harris Miller. We would like to thank Mom’s very special friend, Elaine MacQuarrie, for her dedication and weekly Sunday afternoon visits; Mom enjoyed your friendship and those visits so much. As well, we would also like to thank Dr. Trevor Locke and the entire staff at Vimy Court for their exceptional care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Vi’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, Monday, January 11, 2016, and funeral service 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016, Reverend Donna Lawrence officiating.
