Kenneth Lambert Spares

SPARES – Kenneth Lambert. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Spares, age 82, of Lower Selma, on January 7, 2016 at Colchester East Hants Health Center, Truro. Born in Northfield, Hants Co. on August 1, 1933, he was a son of the late Gardiner and Amelia (Franklin) Spares. He served 23 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, stationed across Canada, and 16 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Ken enjoyed reading, watching hockey, walking and spending time outdoors with friends and family. He was known for his great sense of humour and his love of history. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, who traveled near and far to track meets, baseball and hockey games. Ken is survived by his wife, Madeline (White); his children, Donald (Wanda), Debbie (Robert), Brenda (Brian), Kevin (Gina), Valerie (Mark), and Jason (Amie); grandchildren, Joey, Lee (Jaclyn), Jennifer, Melissa, Megan, Taylor (Amy), Carly, Tristan, Cassidy, and Gavin; and great-grandchildren, Zackery, Scarlett, and April. Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by his siblings, Elsie, Claire, Bill, and Lewis. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 7-9pm, with a memorial service on Tuesday, January 12 at 3pm, both at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Following the service, there will be a private family committal at Northfield Cemetery, Northfield, and a reception at the Little White Hall, Noel Road. Donations in memory of Ken may be made to Palliative Care at CEHHC or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J.
