It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of a beautiful mother,grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Eileen Skinner, on Jan. 12, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Before her illness, Eileen was a very active woman who enjoyed her two hour daily walks. In her early years she worked at the Louisbourg Telephone Office as an operator. Later, she worked at National Sea Products until its closure.
She was a devoted family woman who loved her family unconditionally, and would take care of anyone who needed her, including her parents, husband children and grandchildren. She had a wit that brought a smile to everyone who knew her. She was a longtime member of the CWL.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Margaret Kehoe; her husband, Carl; also a sister-in-law, Marjorie MacDonald.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Kevin) Bond and sons, David (Karen), both of Louisbourg, and Jody (Lloydine), Truro; brothers, Gordon (Francois) Kehoe, Orleans, Ont., Wilfred 'Buddy' (Mary) Kehoe, Louisbourg; grandchildren, Nicole, Jeremy, MacKenzie, and Brylee; sister-in-law, Sheila Fudge. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her lifelong best friend, Doris King, whom she had known since she was 17.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Eileen will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, from 2-4 nd 7-9 p.m. at Stella Maris Parish, Main Street, Louisbourg. Funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, in Stella Maris Parish, with Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center, C/O Tom MacNeil, or the CBRH Palliative care unit.
