Albert McKinley

McKINLEY, ALBERT R.
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Albert “Abby” Ralph McKinley of Northampton, husband of Joan (Dore) McKinley, which occurred on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Woodstock on April 22, 1933, he was a son of the late John “Jack” and Hazel (Bell) McKinley. Albert worked for General Motors “GM” starting as a mechanic and retiring as service manager after over forty years of service. Albert’s real passion was farming, which he enjoyed with the help of his wife Joan and their children.
Albert was actively involved with the Northampton Recreation Council, and the Woodstock Wheelers Square Dancers. He and Joan enjoyed many trips, including memorable trips England, Hawaii and Alaska. Albert was well known for his friendliness, teasing, and telling many stories and jokes. When not tinkering/fubbing around the farm, Albert enjoyed spending time with his family. His positive attitude and enjoyment of life is a legacy which he has handed down to all.
In addition to his wife of nearly 60 years, Albert is survived by his children, Linda Cummings (Jim) of Northampton, Dean McKinley of Smithers, BC, Bill McKinley (Barb) of Northampton, Greg McKinley of Northampton, Sharon Lutwick (Charles) of Northampton, Dennis McKinley (Sarah Beattie) of Northampton, Cindy Brown (Dan) of Grafton, and Gail Downey of Waterville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Isabelle McKinley of Woodstock; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jerry Downey; his twin brother, Harry McKinley; sister Betty Hemmingway; and half brothers George, Vere, and Elder Whitlock.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11 AM from St. Luke’s Anglican Church. Interment will take place at a later date in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to St. Luke’s Anglican Church or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.carletonfuneralhome.ca
