Peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa, Ont.
Born in Oshawa on Oct. 12, 1922, Art was the son of Frank and Violet (Hutchinson) Davey.
Art was a member of Warden United Church in Glace Bay, N.S. Art was employed by the Dept. of National Revenue (Customs and Excise) for 35 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #43, Oshawa, Ont. and Branch # 128, Sydney N.S. He was a former vice president & executive officer of Branch #43 Oshawa, Ont. Art served overseas during the Second World War with the R.C.E. (Chemical Warfare) and from D-Day on, with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles (3rd Division).
He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2001 and his older brother, Fred in 2000.
He will be sadly missed by brother, Al of Bracebridge, Ont.; his sons, Gerald (Wanda) of Newmarket, Ont., Paul (Anne) of Tecumseh, Ont., Ronald of Bowmanville, Ont. and Allan (Susan) of Calgary, Alta., also by his grandchildren, Laura, Jennifer, Sean, Brent, Kevin, Jazmine, Mitchell, Sarah, Liam, and his great-grandchildren, Cohen and Grahame.
A memorial celebration of Art’s life will be held at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. East, Oshawa on Friday, Jan. 22nd at 11 a.m. Interment with his late wife Mary at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Whitby, to follow services.
