Date de décès : 23 janvier 2016

Marguerite Fergusson, wife of the late Dr. Donald M. Fergusson, Glace Bay, passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016.
Born in Glace Bay on March 20, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Euphemia MacCuish and Daniel John MacCuish of New Aberdeen.
Marguerite was a member of Knox United Church, a former member of the church choir, a Sunday School teacher, and a charter member of Knox UCW. In her youth, she attended Warden United Church with which she always maintained an affiliation.
Marguerite taught school in Glace Bay, and upon retirement, continued teaching as part of the Laubach Each-One-Teach-One program. She was a past matron and life member of Cape Breton Chapter #12, Order of the Eastern Star; an Honorary Life member of the Alumni of the Nova Scotia Teachers’ College; and a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association. She was also proud to be part of Clan Fergusson.
Marguerite leaves behind daughter Barbara (Kip) MacLean and son-in-law Eddy Davis. She was much-loved 'Nana' to Donna Davis (Doug Hart) of Halifax, Barbara (Cecil) (Matthew and Alex) Musgrave of Bedford, and Allison Davis (Salem Ali) (Ibrahim) of Halifax, as well as Heather MacLean (Tom Alummoottil) of Toronto, Jamie MacLean (Katie Morrison and Ben) of River Ryan, and Susan MacLean (Rob Wadden) (Ewan and Carey) of Sydney River. Also, neighbour Judy Patten has been like family to Marguerite.
Besides her husband and parents, Marguerite was predeceased by daughter Beryl Davis, sisters Catherine (Herbert) Mores, Mae (Ted) Dawson, and Beryl (John) MacDonald, and by brothers Hughie (Anna) MacCuish and Ted (Effie) MacCuish.
Sincere gratitude is extended to Dr. David Ley for his expertise and kindness over the years; to Paulette Murphy and the New Waterford Homecare Service Society; and to the dedicated staff of Seaview Manor, who became dear friends and whose exceptional care brought Marguerite much joy in her final years.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 2-4 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay, with a memorial service to follow.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials are suggested for Seaview Manor, Knox United Church, Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
Online condolences may be sent to www.pattenfuneral.com.
