McCabe, Carol May, age 73, of Debert, and formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 25, 2016, at Debert Court in Debert, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s. Carol was born in Halifax, to James and Addie Rose. She grew up on the family farm in Urbania, Hants County. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend. She had a kind and generous heart, and was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Carol loved to garden, walk, square dance, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Carol is survived by her husband, Sid of 53 years; sons, Rob (Kathy), and Jim (Cindy); grandchildren, Tara (Erick) Reade, Jennifer, Stephanie, Evan, and Hailey; sister, Joyce Grue; brother, Fred Rose. No visitation by request. Private family service will be held on Saturday, January 30, at 1 pm, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, Rev. John Parsons officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, or to a charity of your choice.
