BLACKMORE, PAUL G.
Paul G Blackmore passed away peacefully at his home in Fredericton, on January 26th at 9:15 PM, surrounded by family. Born on July 30th 1951, in Miramichi, NB, fourth child of the late George and Kathleen (Hawkes) Blackmore, Paul died at the age of 64.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Sandra “Sandy” Bulmer, and his two children, Josie and Drew Blackmore. Paul was predeceased by his sister Mary “Betty” Layton; survived by his sister Saundra “Honey” Ritchie (Gerry); survived by his brothers Andrew Blackmore (Marie) and Ray Blackmore (Linda); survived by his brother-in-law Jack Layton; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was a loving husband and father, a loyal friend, and a deeply compassionate person. He cared for his wife Sandy with all of his heart and soul, and his dedication to the happiness of his family was evident in his every word and action. Paul’s friends knew him as a man who strove to live his entire life in his prime. To so many, he was a pillar of strength and spirit – always prepared to give comfort and advice to those in need. Paul had a strong sense of social justice and kindness, and was committed to ensuring that New Brunswick had fair labour and employment standards legislation and programming. Paul was essential to governmental and legal reforms that strengthened and protected the rights of tradespeople and disadvantaged communities across all of New Brunswick.
He will forever be remembered and loved.
Paul’s family would like to acknowledge the Extramural nurses and staff, as well as Dr. Deborah Gowan, all of whose diligence and care were invaluable in helping Paul remain content and comfortable until his death. Additionally, Paul’s family would like to thank all those who sent their love and support during Paul’s final weeks.
A celebration in honour of Paul’s life will be held at 3PM on June 12th, at the Wilser’s Room (362 Queen Street, in the Capital Complex). Those interested in attending are requested to RSVP to paulscelebrationoflife@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Multicultural Association of Fredericton (MCAF Inc.), for Syrian Refugees – at 28 Saunders Street, Fredericton, NB, E3B-1N1. Personal condolences to the family may be made through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com.
