David Grant

GRANT, David William
Age 58, died suddenly on Sunday January 31st, 2016 at his home in Caribou River.
He was the eldest of six children, born on February 21st, 1957 to Marion (Falconer) Grant and the late William “Bill” Grant. David was raised in a very tight knit community where he was part of the last generation to attend the one room school in Caribou River, later attending West Pictou High and Carpentry at Pictou Regional Vocational School (NSCC).
He married Mildred (Elliott) and became the proud father of two children.
David worked for years as a carpenter for the Pictou Shipyard and later in the local commercial fishing industry.
He always valued the time spent with family and friends whether it was at work, hunting, fishing or just relaxing at the shore. David would always lend an ear for a good, preferably humorous story and was quick to offer one himself.
He will be missed dearly by his children Mitchell (Amy), Duncan, British Columbia and Tamara (Terry Lehoux), Melfort, Saskatchewan; along with grandchildren, Savannah, Logan, Mahlin and Soren. David is also survived by twin sisters, Linda Cameron, Seafoam; Mary Noel, Hedgeville; as well as brothers, Alex (Sheila), Toney River; and Peter (Carolyn), Caribou River.
He was predeceased by sister, Terri Henderson.
David will be fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. David was a loving father and friend who will be greatly missed by all those he left behind to soon.
Public visitation will be held 7-9 PM Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A private family funeral will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Cariboo River Upper Cemetery or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
