It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Betty Donovan, age 77 on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at the New Waterford Hospital.
Born in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late Duncan and Catherine (MacDonald) Campbell.
Betty was proud to be a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and being with her grandchildren. She was a devout catholic. Betty held various positions at the former St. Joseph’s Church, New Victoria and St. Michael’s Church, River Ryan. These positions included Eucharistic Minister, religious education teacher and a member of the altar society. Betty and her husband, Phil enjoyed taking trips to P.E.I. as well as visiting the shrine in Mabou.
Betty is survived by her husband, Phil Donovan, two daughters, Bernadette (Ralph) Lovell, Maureen (Jeff), two sisters, Shirley Brown, Patricia Buchanan (Patrick Burke), three grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Connor, niece, Michelle, nephew, Michael, grandnieces, Chelsi, Lindsey, MacKenzie, grandnephew, Cody, son-in-law, Lawrence MacSween, sister-in-law, Cathy and her children, Madeline, Dean and Cathy’s husband, Allen Thorpe.
Betty was predeceased by her son, Sean Donovan, brother, Alexander ‘Alex’ Campbell and a brother in law, George Brown.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 2 p.m. in St. Leonard Church with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. The reception will be held in the parish hall on Convent Street. Interment is at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, New Victoria.
Betty loved animals.
