With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of Patricia Ann McNeil, in her 67th year, on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a short battle with cancer.
Patsy was an awesome mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, co-worker and friend. Because of her huge heart, she always put everyone before herself. Patsy was a longtime employee of Highland Fisheries of Glace Bay. She was often referred to as 'Norma Rae' by her friends and co-workers for her strong union ties.
She was predeceased by her parents, James Austin and June Patricia (Ryan) McNeil; brother, James Gerard; brothers-in-law, Dave Miller and Kenny Evely; sister-in-law, Sandra Murphy McNeil; and Billy Strong.
Patsy leaves to mourn her three children, Shannon, Derek (Vikki) and April; six grandchildren, William, Jeffrey, Jamie, Kurt, Myra and Kale; great-granddaughter, Peyton; brother, Paddy (Sandra); sisters, June and Mary; as well as brothers, Roddy (Denise), Ronnie (Terri) and Donnie (Dena); sisters, Lorraine (Kevin), Charlotte (Tommy), Margie and Tina; nieces, nephews and other family members. She is also survived by her special friends, Velma and Mike, Sheila and Al, Scott and Wally and a large circle of friends and co-workers.
As per Patsy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in July 2016.
